Endodontics
Endodontic is the speciality of dentistry, concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or injuries of the soft tissue within the tooth (the dental pulp). It is a conservative procedure which helps in effectively saving teeth that otherwise would be lost.

Treatment may require one to three appointments, depending on the diagnosis and complexity of the case. The clinician removes the injured or diseased pulp, cleans, enlarges and seals the root canal system to prevent recontamination. Sometimes root canal therapy is done prophylactically in a worn out dentition to enhance success of extensive crown and bridge treatment.

    DIFFERENT TREATMENT MODALITIES OFFERED :
  • Basic Root Canal Therapy for Treatment of Decayed/Fractured Teeth
  • Single Sitting Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy
  • Re-Treatment / Revision Endodontics
  • Multiple Root Canal Therapy in Single Sitting before Crown & Bridge Procedures, to reduce the number of visits.
  • Tooth coloured Restorations
  • Preventive Dental Treatment e.g. Pit and Fissure Sealants
  • Tooth Whitening
  • MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TREATMENT

Diseased and broken teeth can have a negative impact, creating a compromised appearance, function and health. Endodontic therapy deals with the treatment of the diseases and injuries of the soft tissues within the tooth (the dental pulp). It is a conservative procedure which helps in effectively saving teeth that otherwise would be lost. Rotary endodontic instruments, apex locators, ultrasonics and magnification ensure successful root canal treatment of these diseased teeth. Significant loss of teeth structure due to decay, fracture and subsequent treatment necessitates that the tooth is fortified against horizontal fracture. Hence a metallic or resin post is cemented into two-thirds length of the canal with a part projecting into the crown, to retain the build up material. Thus, these teeth are optimized to become a strong foundation for a single crown or abutment for extensive crown and bridge therapy.

    INDICATIONS
    1. Extensive decay, wear, fracture involving the dental pulp.
    2. Extensive restorations that over a period of time cause discomfort.
    3. Broken, worn, attrided teeth.
    4. Periodontally weak teeth.
    5. Collapsed Bite leading to TMJ dysfunction.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF DISEASED TOOTH
    • A tooth that hurts significantly when you bite on it, touch it or push it.
    • Sensitivity to heat.
    • Sensitivity to cold that lasts longer than a couple of seconds.
    • Swelling near the affected tooth.
    • A discolored tooth, with or without pain.
    • A broken tooth.

    GOAL OF MULTI DISCIPLINARY REHABILITATION
    • Retain Natural Teeth, protect them against reinfection and fracture.
    • Replace Missing Tooth Structure.
    • Maintain Function and Esthetics.

    CAREFUL TREATMENT PLANNING ENTAILS :
    • Extraction of totally broken, periodontally, compromised teeth.
    • Endodontic therapy for the decayed, worn and diseased teeth.
    • Post/core restorations to fortify endodontically treated teeth.
    • Implants for the missing teeth.
    • Crown and Bridge therapy to restore teeth to form, function and esthetics.
    • Periondontal therapy as required.
